The inspiration for these shading structures and public lights for Dorset Square and Cinema Lane were gained from the delicate petal geometry of the boronia flower, to create a unique signature identity for the local community.

The column and roof of every shade structure is comprised of five individual beams, each reaching out to their surroundings with open arms tapering outwards. Each shade houses two weatherproof light fittings the first illuminates the footpath below, the second illuminates the inside of the shade itself. Each shade allows sprinkles of sunlight to filter through the canopies creating a joyful play of light and shadow.

The public light shades are formed from vertically-curled, large-scale stainless steel boronia petals.
